Andrew O’Brien was born in Oldham, England. He came with his parents to Canada in 1967, and came to reside in Sundre, Alberta at the age of 11, where he still lives with his wife and two daughters.
He and his family count it a privilege to live in such a picturesque area. Being close to the Rocky Mountains provides many opportunities for hiking and scrambling, and this wilderness backcountry is a subject of many of his pictures.
Photography and art has always been a part of Andrew’s life, and with an eye for detail and a natural ability for composition, he strives to capture the beauty of the creation that surrounds us by ‘painting with light.’
Andrew is a Juried member of the Wellspring Visual ArtNetwork Association and a member of the Arts and Culture Foundation of Cochrane.
