Lorene RunhamLorene Runham

Lorene Runham is a full time artist living in Olds, Alberta. Her career has allowed her the ability to fully develop skills in pastel, watercolour, acrylic, and mixed-media/collage.  Lorene’s most recent works have evolved into using photography to create digital compositions and abstracts.

Inspiration always comes from somewhere and for Lorene that inspiration can come from experiencing a spectacular sunset that has the ability to leave you feeling that it was a gift created and given to you alone. As well as wonder at the sight and smell of a perfect patchwork across the prairie landscape of dew-covered crops left swaying in the early morning light. And the feeling of being held in the safety of the majestic Rocky Mountains always causes Lorene to want to answer back in an expression of gratitude.

Art has been a lifetime adventure for Lorene Runham. At a very young age, her favourite creative thing to do was to cut out buildings, trees, cars, people and animals that she had drawn and then would pin them up all over the wall above her bed using her mother’s sewing pins. Even today, she will use cut out pieces to create an image in a collage.

By the age of 12, she knew she wanted to go to art school. In 1976, Lorene finished her formal training in Art and Design at Red Deer College. She continues to share her knowledge with fellow artists and students by teaching workshops through the local and district art clubs and schools.

The ‘Impressionist Masters’ have always influenced Lorene’s approach to art making. Her works deliver exciting textures and designs while portraying strong light and colour. Runham’s landscapes are very impressionistic in style and technique. Truly a ‘feast for the eyes’!

Her prints and originals have been seen in galleries in Alberta and Manitoba and are part of private and corporate collections across Canada and into the US.
